Central Chamber Report: Time to Celebrate!

By  |

1976 – I can remember being pretty excited about my senior year of high school.  I wasn't only excited to be getting out of high school, but our nation was celebrating its 200th birthday!  Our class was the "Spirit of 76".  This weekend, July 4th, we celebrate our 239th and in a few short years we will reach 250! Even though there are events and issues that take place that may frustrate us from time to time, it is the freedom that we enjoy that  even allows for such issues to exists.  This weekend, take time to celebrate the birthday of the greatest country on this earth!
On June 5, the Central Chamber turned 10, and next weekend, July 11, our city turns 10 years old.  Now in light of 250 years, 10 years is still really just getting started, but what a great start it has been!  We've established city government, privatized our services, created a master plan, established a school system, worked collaboratively with other agencies,  had growth in the business community, and people are beginning to realize that Central is a city and not just a geographical location in our state.  Has everything gone as well or gone the way everyone might have liked?  Of course not, but due to the consistent efforts of many people we have a lot to celebrate!   On July 11, let’s take time to celebrate the visionaries, the volunteers, the entrepreneurs, the engaged, the planners, the implementers, our citizens, and above all, our great City of Central!
