The Central Chamber Report: “Here Kitty, Kitty!”

By  |

Did the catchy little title get your attention?  I hope so!
Ten years ago we embarked on the journey of running our own city.  Why?  We understood the importance of education in terms of providing our children with a sound future and in terms of creating a workforce to help bolster a sound economy! So we grabbed the kitty by the tail, rolled up our sleeves and worked together to get the job done!  I think most of us would agree that the first ten years have proven a success.   There have been some bumps in the road but overall we can be excited and thrilled about the results.  However, the city and the school system do not run on just hopes, hard work and aspirations, they require money.
The kitty that we grabbed by the tail has turned into a tiger and he needs food!  You can help!  How?  Every time you shop in Central, a portion of the sales tax goes to help run our city and our school system.  When you encourage friends and relatives to move to Central, a portion of the yearly property tax on their residence goes towards our school system but not the city.  That is why shopping in Central is so important!  I talk to business owners and many of them lament that during the summer business drops off.  You.ve heard of “Christmas in July”?  This has been a catch phrase for many years.  Well let’s make it Christmas in July for our businesses by making sure to stock up on our vacation supplies here in Central.  School is just about to start so make sure to buy your school supplies in Central!  So let’s “Hold that Tiger”.  Every little bit helps.  As we all continue to do our part, by shopping local, our city and our schools will grow strong for years to come.
