CMS Students Learn Archery

By  |

archery1b    Central Middle students in Mrs. Nicole Aucoin's Physical Education class are right on target! Each year at this time her students learn the art and skills of Archery.  Mrs. Aucoin's students enjoy learning how to shoot the bow and arrow. Mrs. Aucoin says that she enjoys teaching her students this lifetime sport and connecting the generations through archery.  Many of her students tell her that their dads are now going to bring them hunting since they have learned how to shoot. Some students have also told her how they now shoot with their grandparents on the weekends.  "It is great to see the excitement on their face when they hit the target."
The students also participate in an Annual Turkey shoot. Mrs Aucoin puts paper turkeys on the target, these turkeys represent hunting for a turkey to provide Thanksgiving dinner for their families like the "Old Days". This turkey shoot is a big deal and the students win a paper turkey pin to wear to show off their skills.
