At Monday's meeting, the Central Community School Board voted to demolish all but one of the remaining buildings at the former Central Middle School site.  A bid package will be developed and issued to provide for asbestos abatement of all remaining buildings, and the demolition of all except the former Industrial Arts building still in use for support services.
The original funding for demolition and abatement of the site came in a bond issue which authorized the spending of up to $1.1 million. Approximately half of the buildings on the site were previously abated and removed at a cost of just under $600,000, leaving approximately $500,000 for the remaining site cleanup.
