CAPA Corner: The Message of Easter

By  |

Is there any time of the year that can match the glory of Easter?  Beauty abounds in this season of celebration. From the fragrant fresh spring blooms to the spectacular laced bonnets and Easter outfits.  This is the season of colored eggs, pet rabbits and candy, more candy, and then more candy.
Yes, Easter has become clean, sanitized and commercialized- polished by generations of additions, traditions, and revisions.
I would imagine, as you might, that the many colorful distractions that we've managed to gather around the remembrance of Easter would seem highly bizarre, to say the least, to those who first followed the resurrected Lord.  Seeing a once dead, now Living Jesus so effected the early believers that their entire focus was changed.
Is it possible, you think, to recapture that fresh sense of urgency regarding the Easter message- to diminish the trappings of a season and increase the passion of that moment?  I believe so.
Following is the secret to remaining focused. Those who were first amazed by Jesus being raised-desired to do nothing else but follow Him.  Following is a valuable skill. It's directed attention, allowing the follower to discard the unnecessary and hold onto the urgent.  The urgent, in this case is, as believers in Christ, to present to the world a pure and uncluttered message of the resurrection.
Be the clear message of Easter.
