Help Feed Your Neighbors This Summer

By  |

As many enjoy summer vacation, remember that this can be an especially difficult time for families in need, as children do not get served meals at school over the summer like they do during the school year, so there is a greater need for assistance through food donations.  Look for Central Food Bank donation barrels at Central Winn Dixie, the Central Food Bank at 13366 Hooper Road Suite A, Zoar Baptist Church, Blackwater United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church on Sullivan, and Lewis Wrecker on Joor.  All donations made to the Central Food Bank go directly to feed families in need in the Central community, so you are truly helping your neighbors.
Items in high demand at the moment include UHT (ultra-high temperature pasteurization) milk (the kind that does not need refrigerating), 1 pound bags of rice, and pint size containers of cooking oil.  Items always in demand include peanut butter and jelly (in plastic containers), pasta, canned spaghetti sauce, and cornbread mix, though any non-perishable food items are always appreciated.  The Central Food Bank appreciates all of the support they have received so far from the Central community.
