FEMA Expected to Fund $2.7 Million

Two feet of flood water has left the buildings at Tanglewood Elementary School unusable for the start of school. While the students are sharing temporary space at the new school complex on Sullivan Road, repairs will begin at Tanglewood.
The Central School Board voted Monday to award the renovation and repair contract to Dumite Construction. Actual cleanup and damage repair will cost an estimated $3 million, of which FEMA is expected to reimburse 90%, approximately $2.7 million.
In addition, $700,000 of improvements and upgrades will be made in anticipation of the school remaining in use for the foreseeable future.  Repairs are expected to be completed in time for students to return to the campus after Christmas break.
