In Memoriam: Denise Ann Whittington

KM_C224e-20161010105141    Denise Ann Whittington passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 at the age of 65 at her mother's home in Central, La where she was raised. Her battle with brain cancer the past several years ended peacefully with her family by her side helping her make the final journey to her new eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and all those who preceded her there.
    She is survived by her mother, Mary Harp Whittington, two brothers, Ralph Emil Whittington and wife Jettie of Holden, LA and Rodney Alan Whittington of Wildwood, GA, 7 nieces and nephews – Rodney Jr., Brooke, Misty, Trestian, Grace, Chase and Mikel and 9 great nieces and nephews, Derrell, Carrie Katherine, Wyatt, Dylan, Kirsten, Bentley, Bren' Lea and twins Will and Sam.
    She was preceded in death by her father Emil W. Whittington, paternal grandparents Lee and Meda Whittington, maternal grandparents Marvin and Alethia Harp and niece Carrie Whittington.
    She is also survived by her extended family and friends in California, where she has resided for the last 43 years; Paloma Gonzales and son Arris, Clay Seger and family, Tarini and Prsasati, Sandili, Shea, Theresa and George, Gail, and so many others.
    A 1968 graduate of Central High School she continued her education graduating at LSU with a BS degree majoring in Spanish and Anthropology. She moved to California in 1973 to become a bilingual teacher in the Orange County District for 17 years. Later she was employed by Pro Packaging where she worked until her retirement.
    Visitation was held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Government Street. Baton Rouge, LA from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm Monday, August 1, 2016 with a Memorial Service immediately following.
