On Sunday November 6, 2016, the CHS Varsity Cheerleading team competed at Southeastern Louisiana University for the Louisiana Regional Competition. They participated in both Large Varsity Non-tumble for routine and Varsity Non-tumble for Game Day. They earned Regional Champions, for the first time in CHS history, in both the routine and the game day competition. The girls give all the glory to God and believe Savannah Payne, a teammate’s sister who passed away days before the competition, was watching over them and giving them strength and ability throughout the competition. Their motto was “Do It for Sav.” The girls had a great group of supporters make their way to SELU to cheer them on as they competed, which the girls appreciated very much. They would like to thank everyone that came and encourage them to join the team in Jackson at the Dixie competition on Saturday December 3, 2016.
