Submitted by Central Fire Department
Friday March 10th at 12:55 p.m., Central and East Side Fire Departments responded to the Central Walmart on Sullivan Road for a reported building fire with District Six Fire Department dispatched to cover an empty CFD station.  Store employees quickly evacuated the store and also attacked the fire with fire extinguishers, limiting fire spread. CFD District Chief Brad Starns stated "with the number of customers and employees in the store, we were fortunate there were no injuries suffered in this incident."
The cause of this fire was attributed to a juvenile and the Baton Rouge Fire Department Arson Division conducted the investigation.  By 3:45 p.m. all fire companies had cleared the scene and the store was fully open by Saturday morning.
