Dr. Mark Mouton takes great pride in offering the most comprehensive health care to his patients.  Opening last year in Dr. Dial’s former office on Joor Road, Dr. Mouton has gathered a highly qualified staff to cover all of his patients’ needs.  He is happy to return to his roots, having grown up on Lovett Road and graduated from Central High School in 1991.
“I have always liked helping people,” Dr. Mouton shared recently, “especially using Science.  I loved taking Advanced Placement Chemistry and Physics with Mr. Gordon at CHS.”  That desire to serve culminated in Dr. Mouton joining the Marines after his second year as an undergraduate at LSU.  “I chose the Marines because they were the most difficult,” he stated, “I had a cousin in the Marine Corps who was recognized for distinguished service in Vietnam.  He inspired me.”
Dr. Mouton returned to LSU and finished his undergraduate degree.  He then went to LSU New Orleans Medical School while remaining in the Reserves for another eight years of service.   Residency at Earl K. Long Hospital followed.  He then opened a private practice in Baker, where his wife Suzanne handled his billing until the birth of their twin daughters.  Dr. Mouton also recently welcomed his second set of twins into the family – a boy and a girl!
An Internist, Dr. Mouton is able to take care of special needs such as Diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, COPD, and asthma.  He also performs his own Gastrointestinal testing, performing Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, and other testing for GERD, stomach ulcers, cancers, etc.,  at the Zachary Surgery Center.  He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Mouton employs three Nurse Practitioners, all of whom specialized in Family Medicine.  Will Boston and Stephanie Nolan are former ICU Nurse Supervisors, and Dorothy Ewen is a former ICU and Cardiac Critical Care nurse.  “I trained all three of my NP’s during their clinicals.  I have complete confidence in their abilities,” Dr. Mouton said with pride.
“We are here to serve you and take care of your needs and health care.  We have an all-electronic medical records system that can instantly transfer records to specialists with the touch of a button.  We see patients ranging in age from teenage to seniors, and we have 2 locations for your convenience,” Dr. Mouton continued.  Open from 9:00 to 5:00 Monday through Friday, the practice has after hours needs covered through Lane Hospital.
