Cooking in Central This Saturday

By  |

Press Release
The City of Central’s Annual Festival will be held at the newly renovated property located at 10305 Blackwater Road which now can proudly live up to her name, “Amazing Place.” This year’s event will be a one day affair held from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday April 1st with meals being served from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. Festivities kickoff with local live entertainers and end that evening with our own “Sarah Collins” followed by the ever-popular “Carbon Copy Band.”
There are a few notable changes this year. Instead of a Cook-off, Central’s talented cooks have agreed to prepare their delicious recipes and we will serve meals from 11 a.m. until 1.m.at a mere $5.00 per plate. BREC will again set up various playground equipment to entertain our children and this year there will be no charge. Central’s largest Crawfish Boil hosted by Carlton’s Seafood and GM Cable has been moved to Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Oh by the way, we will once again have a greased pig contest.
To help some of the needs within our Central Schools, “Cooking in Central” is once again hosting “Cooking for Our Kids.” It has been brought to the attention of our Board that our local schools, both public and private, need additional funding to purchase bare necessities ranging from playground equipment to information and technology equipment and much more. Therefore, all proceeds generated from ticket and t-shirt sales and or auction items within the individual schools will be used for these necessities.
We have identified 98 teachers from Tanglewood, Central Private and St. Alphonsus that have lost personal school aids in the flood which will not be replaced by insurance. As an organization who prides itself in helping friends in need, CIC has decided that a portion of our event day revenues will go towards purchasing vouchers for these teachers to help them replace their educational losses.
And finally, we have contacted the blood bank and they have their mobile unit on hand to collect blood for baby Easton Roy who is in need of blood due to pulmonary hypertension.
Cooking in Central is always looking for additional sponsors and cooks, so contact us at (225) 933-0059 to become a part of this great event.
