Central Honors Officer Simmons

    At Tuesday’s meeting, Central’s City Council unanimously passed a resolution recognizing Central citizen and EBRSO Officer Bruce Simmons as the 2016 Law Enforcement Citizen of the Year for the City of Central. Officer Simmons was shot in the sniper ambush in Baton Rouge in 2016 and has just recently returned to active duty. Sheriff Sid Gautreaux was in attendance and praised Officer Simmons and all of the brave men and women who serve in law enforcement.
    In other Council Business Council Member Jason Ellis introduced a resolution to seek an engineering firm to perform a Drainage System Maintenance Plan for the City of Central. The resolution passed unanimously, paving the way for work to begin on the plan during the 2017/2018 fiscal year.
