Drainage Contract Awarded
On April 14th the City Council appropriated $4 million from Central’s Drainage and Emergency Funds to clear out some of Central’s off-road drainage. The two contracts to do this work have been awarded to Looks Great Services of Columbia, MS.
There were five bidders on the contract to clear out a portion of Beaver Bayou and a lateral to Blackwater Bayou. Mayor Junior Shelton awarded the contract to Looks Great Services for $1,451,000. The low bidder, who was not awarded the contract, was Dynamic Construction Group, coming in $155,625 lower at $1,295,375.
The second contract awarded to Looks Great Services is for clearing out other sections of canals on an as-directed basis. The start date for the work under both contracts has not yet been determined.
