Trevor Sims Bust Unveiled

In 2013, Trevor Sims inspired the community to feed those in need through “Trevor’s Wish,” an initiative to collect food and funds for the Baton Rouge Food Bank.  Trevor was a ten year old Central student who had been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, at age 5.  The cancer would take his life at age 11, but Trevor’s memory lives on, both in the giving spirit he spread through everyone who heard his story, and now through the recently unveiled bust at the Downtown Greenway in front of the Old Governor’s Mansion on North Boulevard in Baton Rouge.  The bust was created after fundraising to fulfill a dream Trevor had shared of having a statue in a local park.  Trevor’s family is pictured above with Ashton Kennedy, the former Central High School student who, with the help of the rest of the Central High Student Council, Central High students, and local community, worked to fulfill Trevor’s Wish to feed the hungry.
