Lots of Achievements for CHS

Principal David Prescott is justifiably proud of the remarkable students at Central High School.  As a new year begins, he looks back on 2016-17, a year that began horrifically and ended like no other year in Central’s history.  Here are a few of the achievements these wonderful young people made happen even in the midst of rebuilding their homes and lives:
 
*Central High School’s performance score has risen for third straight year (A rating)
*La. Top Gains High School (1 of only 15 in state)
*A.P. Honor Roll (1 of only 3 in state)
*District had 3rd highest ACT scores in the state, first among minority/economically disadvantaged students.
*State Champions AAAAA Baseball
*State Champions AAAAA Softball
*State Champions Fishing Team
*Cheer:  UCA La. regionals 1st Large Varsity non tumbling, 1st Large Varsity Game Day, Dixie Championships 1st Large Varsity non tumbling,  2nd Large varsity Game Day, National High School Cheer Championships–5th place Large Varsity game day, 9th place Large Varsity non tumbling
*Wrestling- Top ten finish in state, 4 all state wrestlers,  Austin Gouedy 3 time state champion and La. outstanding wrestler
*Jazz Ensemble: Superior Ratings at Loyola and BRCC Jazz Festivals
National Television Performance on "The Great Light Fight",Over 30 performances
*Marching Band: Superiors at all Marching Band Competitions, Showdown at Sundown (at McNeese University) and Northwestern Invitational (at NSU)
*Symphonic Band: Superiors at District Festival and Invited to perform at the Band and Orchestra Festival at Carnegie Hall on March 31, 2018. 
*Choir: Excellent at District Festival and Superior at the Panama City Music Festival.
*Kittens: 1st in Division 1 Pom Nationally, 2nd in Division 1 Nationally, 2nd in Division 1 Jazz Nationally, National Champs in Pom
*Guard: Superiors at all marching band competitions, Best All Around in New Orleans with MA, Best All Around in Panama City, receiving Superior ratings at Both
*Talented Theater: performed “Footloose” in April.
With such a great foundation, Coach Prescott has high hopes for all that his students will achieve in this new year!
