Press Release

Baton Rouge Republican Lawmaker Rick Edmonds is leading all qualified candidates for Louisiana Secretary of State in contributions raised.

Edmonds reported $102,920.00 in contributions on his campaign finance report ending July 29, 2018.

Edmonds, who serves as a State Representative for South Baton Rouge’s District 66, announced his candidacy for the statewide special election on June 28, after the Louisiana Legislature adjourned its third special session on June 24.

“I am humbled by the broad support I am receiving from all across this state in just the short time since we have been begun,” Edmonds said.  “These campaign contributions are just the beginning. We have created a solid fundraising foundation for the remaining months of the campaign.”

Edmonds is running on his record of serving as a watchdog in the legislature. During the past ten sessions, Edmonds has stood strongly against tax increases on Louisiana families and businesses.  He has pledged to “bring this same watchdog approach to this position by fighting against voter fraud, guarding against cyberattacks on the office and supporting mandatory voter ID at the polls.”
