Bellingrath Hills Elementary has their Book Fair coming up next week, March 15-19. Students will be given the opportunity to purchase books at the fair. Parents can also purchase books for their kids or to contribute to their children’s classroom libraries. The Book Fair is also looking for volunteers to help set up and to assist children in selecting books. This year, through a special program called One for Books, for each dollar raised, Scholastic will donate a book to a charitable cause. For more information on the Book Fair, visit Bellingrath’s BOOK FAIR PAGE.
At the School Board meeting, the School Board began the process of adapting a procurement policy, which sets up specific steps for teachers and other school employees when something needs to be purchased for the school or classroom.
The bids for the rennovations to the remaining Central School System schools (not including the ones that are being replaced) are being advertised. Those bids will be received in April.

Central Intermediate School is collecting used printer ink cartridges and old cell phones. The school can turn these items in and receive funds in return. These items can be dropped off at the Central Intermediate School office during business hours. If you have access to these used items, this is a very simple way to get some money for Central Intermediate.

All Central Schools, including Bellingrath Hills Elementary, Tanglewood Elementary, Central Intermediate, Central Middle, Central High, and Central Private School will be closed on Friday, February 12. These closures are due to the threat of nasty weather from Thursday evening into mid day on Friday. Freezing rain, sleet, and maybe even a little snow are all possibilities, making the roads quite dangerous for drivers. Other schools in the surrounding area have also announced Friday closures, including East Baton Rouge Parish schools, Zachary School System schools, and Livingston Parish schools.
