The CHS Wildcat Spirit Organization is making plans for the first ever CHS BAND ALUMNI NIGHT! Make plans to join the “CHS BAND OF CLASS” Past Present & Future. The event will include the sights & sounds of Central’s very own Marching Bands, Kittens, Silks, & Twirlers. We are currently in the process of locating CHS Band Alumni. If you ever participated in any of these groups and are interested in participating in the event, please visit www.chswildcatspirit.org for the registration form.  Registration ends October 17, 2008.

CHS Alumni Band Night will be held on Friday night October 24, 2008 in Wildcat Stadium. The plans will include recognition on the field, the chance (if you liked to participate and have your own instrument) to JAM with the band during the game and a small registration fee of $20 (which will include a t-shirt, ticket to the CHS vs Scotlandville game and a souvenir drink cup).

This is what’s going on at Tanglewood…….

On Friday, September 26, Tanglewood celebrated fairytales and folk tales. Second grade teachers dressed as fairytale characters, while third grade teachers dressed as characters from folk tales. The students participated in a variety of activities relating to these stories.

Mrs. Whitehead would like to thank all of the parents who have sent money for their children to purchase Smencils. She will continue to sell them in the library throughout the year. Profits will go towards purchasing books for the Accelerated Reader program.

Bellingrath Hills Students are taking part in the National Mock Election

This month we are talking about voting for president. In the Computer Lab, students will be taking part in a mock election that is sponsored by the Secretary of State. They will be able to vote for the candidate of their choice. It will be done by secret ballot on the computer before Oct. 30. On October 30, we will receive the final result for our school, and also for the other elementary schools around the country. It will be posted on the website as soon as we get the results.
Please discuss the candidates with your children. As teachers, we are not campaigning for a certain candidate. We are more concerned with teaching your child about the voting process and good citizenship. Please inform your child about both candidates and who you feel would be the best president and why. Thank you for your assistance in this manner and we are very excited about this process. For more information on the National Mock Election, visit geauxvote.com.

Central School Board Holds Called Meeting (See Full Video Below)

The Central Community School Board met this evening at 6PM in a called meeting to consider an extension on a line of credit. On 9/26/07 the system opened a $1,150,000 line of credit and borrowed $750,000 against that line. The line comes due for repayment in about two weeks on 10/15/08. Superintendent Faulk explained that timing of payments on Grants, Ad-Valorem taxes and State MFP funds necessitates requesting a 90 day extension on the repayment of the line of credit. The first payment of Ad-Valorem taxes from the Sheriff’s department is due on 1/10/2009 and will amount to $2,150,000.

The board, after some discussion, voted to authorize the school system staff to go before the Louisiana Community Development Authority and request the extension to 1/15/2009. The vote was unanimous and the meeting was adjourned.
