Sid Edwards Named Head Football Coach at CHS

It was announced today that Sid Edwards has been named the Central High Head football coach.  He will continue his duties as Athletic Director.

6th Grader Shoots 210 LB Hog

Brady Ellis, a 6th grader at CMS, killed this 210-pound hog in north Louisiana, hunting with his dad Mark.  This should make for some good pork chops!

Baton Rouge LHSOA Softball Chapter Membership Meeting this Sunday

The Baton Rouge Softball Chapter of the LHSOA will hold a Membership Meeting at the Jefferson Highway Park located at 8133 Jefferson Highway on January 22, 2012 at 6:00pm.  The park is located on Jefferson Highway between Cypress Lakes Drive and Wrenwood Blvd.

We welcome all Veteran, Rookie Umpires as well as umpires from River City to attend to discuss the 2012 Study Guide and Points of Emphasis,  our contract status, current membership status and the required concussion outline.  This will be the final day to register for the 2012 season.

Sub Zero Baseball Needs One More Player

Sub Zero Baseball is looking for one more player to complete its roster. We are classified as an 8U AAA tournament team. Most tournaments will be played in the Baton Rouge area and practices are in Central. Coaches are Allen Walls and Marc Walls. CAYL T-Ball/Softball/Baseball Registration

 

It’s that time of year again.  The Central Area Youth League will have registration for boys and girls t-ball, girls softball and boys baseball.  Registration will be held in the cafeteria at Central Middle School on the following dates:
 
Thursday, January 26th – 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Tuesday, January 31st – 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Thursday, February 2nd – 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.
Saturday, February 4th – 12:00 – 2:00 P.M.
Saturday, February 11th – 12:00 – 2:00 P.M.
 
The registration fee for each player is $60.00.  A BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS REQUIRED AT REGISTRATION.  CAYL does not keep birth certificates.  A child’s birth date will be verified at the time of registration and the birth certificate returned at this time.  (No exceptions)  A child who turns five (5) by December 31, 2012 is eligible for t-ball.  The cut-off date for boys who participate in all other league play is May 1, 2012.  A child who turns 15 before this date will not be eligible.  A girl’s eligibility is based on their age as of December 31, 2011.
 
CAYL will offer competitive and draft leagues for boys.  After registration players in the pool will participate in a draft on Saturday, February 18th at 9:00 A.M. at Lovett Road Park.   Parents are responsible for having their child at the draft on this date.
 
All games are played at Lovett Road Park during the week beginning at 6:00 P.M. (rain-outs will be played on Friday nights if necessary)

CHS Football Coach Dotson Leaving for Erath

 

In an announcement to the team Thursday, Coach Doug Dotson shared that he has accepted the Head Football Coach position at Erath High School near Lafayette.  The Vermillion Parish School Board was to meet Thursday evening to confirm the appointment.  He shared that he looks forward to going home to the Lafayette area where his oldest daughter and mother already live.  His daughter Bailey, a senior at CHS is considering attendig ULL.  Coach Dotson looks forward to having all of his family close by as he moves on to coach Erath. 
 
Coach Dotson shared with Central Speaks, "I value the time I have spent in Central.  It has been a great stay, five good years with many magical moments.  I have made many good friends here, we will just have to get together in Lafayette in the future.  Most of all, I appreciate my players and my coaches.  They all worked hard to achieve the success we have had together."
 
Central School System Athletic Director Sid Edwards had this to say about Coach Dotson: "Doug has been at Central five years, and that is a long time in the coaching profession.  He has made a positive difference and was a catalyst for much of the success we have had while he was here.  I wish him and his family the best.  Erath will be getting one heck of a football coach."

LHSOA Meeting This Sunday
