CHS Soccer Team Supports Kick for the Cure

By Coach Melton;  Photos by Expressions Photography

This Saturday, Dec 17th, the Central Soccer program will be holding our 2nd annual "Kick For The Cure" matches. This year the middle school will be participating for the first time to make it complete. The games will start at 11:30 with the middle school leading it off. This will be a great opportunity for the kids to play in the stadium and for faculty and staff to see a game. The CHS boys will follow at 1:00 with the girls finishing the day at 3:00. Last year we were able to make a good donation and we are looking forward to doubling the amount this year.

Admission to the games is only $5 for adults, $3 for students and under 9 are free. We have a limited number of t-shirts that will be available and will have concessions where you will be able to purchase some of the best hot chocolate in town. All proceeds from the shirts and a portion of the gate and concessions will be donated to the Susan G Komen foundation.

I started this game last year in memory of my mother in law Willene Guilbeau after she lost her nine year battle with breast cancer. This is very near and dear to me and I would love to see everyone come out and support these teams and give for a great cause. Please come out and support our Wildcats in this terrific endeavor!

Lady Wildcat Basketball Off to a 3-0 Start

Submitted by Heather Blanchard

The Central High Lady Wildcat basketball team began the 2011 season with the best start in several years during the Thanksgiving Holidays.  Senior guard Kristen Williams led the Lady Wildcats against the Wildcats of Livonia with 20 points and sophomore forward Aislin Foster added 11 in the 57-27 win.  Next up for the Central team was the Vikings of Northeast, Williams again led with 16 points as the Wildcats won 44-29.  Foster and Elizabeth Newlin also added 7 points each in the win.   Monday night the team traveled to False River and took wins at the Varsity and JV level.  Aislin Foster led all scorers with 10 points in the 45-21 win.  Each game played was a total team effort as nine players scored in each game.  Members of the team this year are Seniors: Rachel Raborn, Lindsay Conques, Kristen Williams and Tiara Davis; Juniors Katelyn Broussard, Elizabeth Newlin, Meghan Conques, Randi Callender and Alexis Stewart; Sophomores are Aislin Foster and Chelsea Morgan and Freshman Rachel Gonzales.  The team continues play this weekend in the St. Michael’s Tournament at Episcopal High School.

Kinsley Basketball Tournament Tips Off Wednesday

The 33rd Annual Charles T. Kinsley Basketball Tornament will see Central take on Broadmoor at 7 PM Wednesday.  The first game of the tournament pits Scotlandville against Belaire at 4 PM.  Games run Wednesday through Friday 4-10 PM, and Saturday from 3PM until the championship game, which starts at 7:30.  A win Wednesday for Central would put them in a semi-final game Friday at 7 PM.  The loser of Central's first game, presumably Broadmoor, will play Thursday at 5:30.  Come out and support the Wildcats in Central's signature tournament.  Tickets are $5/day Wednesday through Friday and $6 Saturday.
