Hunting Season Put on Hold in Some Areas

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has closed hunting season temporarily in some locations around the state due to high water. The concern is that people would be putting themselves in dangerous situations because of the water levels. While the city of Central itself is not one of these locations, Central citizens should be aware of the affected areas for anyone who intends to go hunting in the near future. The following areas are under the hunting ban, with the exception of waterfowl hunting:

Elm Hall Wildlife Management Area, parts of Louisiana south of Interstate 10 or west of 310, places north and west of Highway 90, east of Highway 70, and east of Highway 22. The parishes affected by this are St. Mary, Assumption, Ascension, St. Martin, Lafourche,  Terrebonne, St. James, St. John, and St. Charles.
