In Memoriam: Mary Bueche Efferson

 

    Mary Bueche Efferson passed away at 8:45 PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at her residence in Greenwell Springs at the age of 73.
    A graduate of Istrouma High School, Mary was an amazing homemaker, mother, wife, and friend. She was also a square-dancing, fishing, fashion, and travel enthusiast. She was a member of the Greater Baton Rouge American Italian Association, American Legion, Worldwide Marriage Encounter, U.C.T., a Eucharistic Minister, a St. Alphonsus Marriage Counselor, a Santa Claus to needy children in the Baton Rouge area, and the Queen of the Annual Efferson Fish Fry. “One of the most determined people he ever met,” in the words of her husband Bobby, "When she's made up her mind to do something, she's gonna do it."
    Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Road, Central, LA 70818 on Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Greenwell Springs from 9:30 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM conducted by Father Mike Moroney. Burial was at Greenoaks Memorial Park in Baton Rouge.
    Survived by her husband, Bobby Wayne Efferson; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Debra Efferson and Danny and Carol Efferson ; 1 brother and sister-in-law, E.J. and Nonie Bueche; 6 grandchildren and spouses, Nathan and Jennifer C. Efferson, Michael Efferson, Jennifer L. Efferson and fiance' Lance Lepine, Clayton Strong, Cody and Kayla Efferson and Nicholas Efferson; 2 great-grandchildren, Brianna and Madison Efferson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carroll and Evelyn Efferson and Lynn and Linda Efferson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Preceded in death by her parents, Elliot and Sarah Bueche.
    Pallbearers will be Nathan, Michael, Cody and Nicholas Efferson, Clayton Strong and Lance Lepine.

In Memoriam: Aubrey Lynn Wiggins, Sr.

    Aubrey Lynn Wiggins, Sr., 67, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at his home in Baker, LA. Aubrey was a longtime member of Life Tabernacle Church where he was baptized on Christmas Day almost 50 years ago. He has continued to serve his Lord and church through his love for people, visiting, laughing and telling stories. He never met a stranger and made all those he came in contact with feel special. Visitation will be held at Life Tabernacle Church, 9323 Hooper Road, Central, LA, on Wednesday, May 15, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday, May 16, from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. B.A. Spell. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Garden. Survived by his children, Charlene Duclos, Donna Wiggins, Aubrey Lynn Wiggins, Jr., and Kalie Wiggins; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trey, Chase, Aubrey, Austin and Aulyssa; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, J.T., Ben, Billy, and Garland Wiggins and Drew Blackstock; sisters, Gladys Waters, Sunshine Lee, Jessie Butler and Charlotte Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond, Sr. and Nora Ashcraft Wiggins; step-daughters, Tammy Stephens and Sheryl Fontenot; and brothers, Bud, Ira, Howard and Jesse Charles Wiggins. Allison Rust, Cadet Jacob Forbes to Exchange Vows on June 1st

Allison Rust of Colorado Springs, CO and Cadet Jacob Forbes of Kingwood, TX will marry in an 11:30 a.m. ceremony June 1st at the United States Air Force Academy Chapel in Colorado Springs.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Wayne and Lisa Rust of Colorado Springs.  She is the granddaughter of Richard and Joan Rust of Cedar Rapids, IA and the late Ed and Marilyn Huth of Cornersville, IN.

Her fiancée is the son of Doug and Jolie Horner of Celebration, FL and Scott and Kellie Forbes of Kingwood, TX.  He is the grandson of Fred and Julie Nance of Prairieville and the late Larry Mosby of Baton Rouge, Carolyn Horner of Baton Rouge, Stan and Virgie Forbes of Central, and Clemon and Jean Mullins, also of Central.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Christian Cottage School and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  Cadet Forbes will graduate in late May from the United States Air Force Academy and attend graduate school at the United States Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.

AnnGelina LaCaze and Chase Metz Wed at Hemingbough

    AnnGelina LaCaze and Chase Metz were married March 23, 2013 at Hemingbough in St. Francisville, Louisiana. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Jay Coleman of Journey Church in Central.
    The bride is the daughter of Mark and Donna LaCaze of Boyce, Louisiana. She is the graddaughter of Amos and Geraldine LaCaze and the late Albert and Phyllis Lacombe of Alexandria, Louisiana. She is a graduate of Holy Savior Menard High School in Alexandria, Louisiana and Our Lady of the Lake College of Nursing. She is an RN at Woman’s Hospital.
    She was attended by her maid of honor, Chelsea Haydel. Bridesmaids were Macy Roshto, Liz Berrigan and Paige Weber. Her flower girl was Hailey Rachal.
    The groom is the son of Roddie and Shari Metz of Greenwell Springs. He is the grandson of Frank and the late Bula Metz of Greenwell Springs, George and the late Joyce Martin of Baton Rouge and the late Paul Wax of Baton Rouge. He is a graduate of Central Private School and East Baton Rouge Fire Department Training School. He is a fireman with the East Baton Rouge Fire Department.
    He was attended by his best man, Seth Partin. His groomsmen were Cody Morgan, Dustin Lefeaux, and Andrew Olinde. The ring bearer was Carter Lefeaux. The ushers were Darrin LaCaze and Jerrod LaCaze.
    Following the outdoor ceremony, a reception was held at Hemingbough in Hemstead Hall.
    The couple honeymooned at Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica before returning to their home in Greenwell Springs.

Liberty McManus and Skye Cheatham to Wed at Zoar

    Liberty C. McManus and Skye E. Cheatham will marry June 8, 2013 at Zoar Baptist Church with a reception immediately following the ceremony at Kristenwood.
    The bride is the daughter of Richard Troy and Jacqueline McManus of Prairieville, Louisiana. She is the graddaughter of Dr. Robert and Mrs. Dorothy McManus of Iota, Louisiana and the late John Joseph and Arlene Murray of Slidell, Louisiana. She is a graduate of  Dutchtown High School and received Bachelors and Masters degrees from LSU in Education. She is currently teaching Kindergarten at Central Private School.
    The groom is the son of Stanley and Marlene Cheatham of Central. He is the grandson of the late Stanley and Josephine Cheatham of Central, and the late Bill and Maurie McAdams of Central. He is a graduate of Central High School and is currently operating his own construction business, SEC Construction Company, LLC. 
    The couple will honeymoon in Alaska.

Weslee and Danielle Meador Welcome Daughter Annabelle Lucille

    Weslee and Danielle (Songe) Meador of Prairieville are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Annabelle Lucille Meador. Annabelle was born April 5th, 2013 at Woman’s Hospital at 9:45 am. She was 7 pounds, 11 ounces and 21” long.
    Proud grandparents are Bobby and Wendy Meador of Pride and David and Karen Songe of Prairieville. Great-grandparents are Marion Songe of Slidell, Mary Sue Meador of Baton Rouge, Volean Hughes of Pride, and Brian Reuther of Barataria.

Joshua and Megan Richard Welcome Daughter Livia

    Joshua and Megan (Bateman) Richard of Zachary are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Livia. Liv was born December 23, 2012 at 8:41 am at Woman’s Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Proud grandparents are Randy Richard of St. Francisville, Venda Perdue Brown of St. Francisville and Jeffery (Scooter) and Anna Bateman of Central. 
    Great-grandparents are Pat Richard of Zachary, Davis and Judy Lioret of Young Harris, Georgia, and the late Donald Richard of Zachary, Linus and Doll Bateman of Gloster, Mississippi, and Patsy Lioret of Zachary.

Josh and Ballard Mann Welcome Son Jackson Chapman

    Josh and Ballard Jackson Mann of Central are proud to announce the birth of their first son, Jackson Chapman. Jackson was born on February 22, 2013 at 10:01 AM at Woman's Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 0 ounces, and was 20.5 inches long. 
    Proud grandparents are Jeff and Kim Mann of Walker, and Cameron and Kim Jackson of Gloster, MS. Great grandparents are Dalton and Helen Mann of Baton Rouge; Cecil and Connie Chapman of Newton, TX; and Fred and Sammie Ballard of Leland, MS.

Vanessa Soredjo wins the Title “Southern States Perfect Woman”

    Central resident Vanessa Soredjo won first place in the Pageant/Model Search with the title Southern States Perfect Woman and the title Most Beautiful that was held on Sunday April 28, 2013 at the Marriot Hotel in Baton Rouge held by the International Director Michael Galanes. She won her crown, trophy, banner, a advertisement page in the World's Model Look Book, a complete entry fee, a 5 week class with John Robert Powers, and a cocktail outfit. She will advance to compete to the International Pageant/Model Search in Orlando, Florida on August 5-7, 2013 for the title World’s Perfect Woman.

Krista Palmer and Dr. Matthew Fowlkes to Wed at Grace UPC

    Krista R. Palmer of Central and Dr. Matthew W. Fowlkes will marry Saturday, May 18, 2013, in a 6:00 p.m. ceremony at Grace UPC in Central.
    The bride-elect is the daughter of Chuck and Chawan Palmer of Central.  She is the granddaughter of Patsy Palmer of Central and the late W.C. Palmer and the late James and Alma Bryan of Bogalusa, Louisiana.  
    Krista is a graduate of Central Private High School and Our Lady of the Lake College with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  She is employed by Oschner Medical Center of New Orleans working in the operating room department.
    Her fiancé is the son of Wayne and Carolyn Fowlkes of Amory, Mississippi.  He is the grandson of the late Ray and Lois Fowlkes of Amory, Mississippi and the late Evans and Elaine McGhee of Aberdeen, Mississippi.
    Matthew is a graduate of Amory High School.  He graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Mississippi State University.  He received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS before receiving his Doctorate of Medicine from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He is currently finishing a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at LSU in New Orleans.
    Immediately following the ceremony, a reception will be held at Stage One Wedding and Reception Hall in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
    The couple will honeymoon in St. Lucia and will reside in New Orleans, Louisiana.
