School Board Candidate Bio: Ruby Foil

By  |

I believe that I should be re-elected to the school board because I am an extremely qualified candidate with a proven history of leadership and success. My decisions have been made independently with honesty and integrity.

I have deep ties to the Central Community. All three of my children graduated from Central High School and I worked at Bellingrath Hills for 28 years. I am a member of Covenant Community Church where I lead the Joyful Hearts fellowship and I am president of the Woodland View Neighborhood Association. I am active in many service and professional organizations.

My professional resume includes experience as a teacher, counselor, and principal and presently as a member of the school board. As principal of Bellingrath Hills for 15 years, I proved my leadership skills in both the educational and business aspects of managing a highly successful school.  Under my leadership, Bellingrath Hills Elementary School was one of the most successful schools in the state. I know what is required to have a stellar school system.

Our school system has made amazing achievements in the last 3 1/2years, but there are many critical issues still facing us. Our new schools will have to provide for a rapid increase in enrollment while facing state budget cuts. Experienced board members are crucial to being successful in meeting these challenges. Because of my experience in working with school budgets and serving on the finance committee, I can make a valuable contribution. I bring business and educational expertise and a conservative approach to the spending of tax dollars.

To be an effective board member, you must first love children and then be able to make informed, independent decisions based solely on what is best for them. I will continue to do that. I would appreciate your support.
