CAPA Corner: Let it Rain

Words of encouragement from the Central Area Pastor's Association

Let it rain!  You must be crazy!  We need a break from the rain!
Amazing how quickly our attitudes can change.  A few months ago we were desperate for rain!  Right now the thought of any more rain is truly not very exciting. One of the facets of Louisiana life you can count on, especially this time of year, is that if you don’t like the weather just wait a little while because it is bound to change.
Rain really is a blessing for us! Our lives depend upon the water cycle.  The human body is composed largely of water. You can live several days without food but only a very few days without water.  Most research shows, that to stay healthy you should consume half your body weight in ounces of pure water each day. Wow!  I don’t know about you, but for me that is a lot of water!
Because rain returning water to the earth is so vital, Isaiah used rain to illustrate the importance of the Word of God to our lives.
Isa 55:10-11:  10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. NKJV
Just as rain bringing water to the earth is vital, so is the Word of God vital to our lives!  Right now you may be tired of the rain but don’t get tired of letting the Word of God rain/reign in your life. Unlike the natural rain, it is ok for the Word of God to rain into your life everyday.  Trust me, it won’t cause flood damage!  Find some promises, meditate on them, hide them in your heart, and see them produce fresh life and an abundant harvest in you!  Go ahead, let it Rain!
