In Memoriam: Ella Mae Carpenter Chemin

    Ella Mae Carpenter Chemin, a native of Baker, LA, passed away peacefully at her home on January 30, 2016. She had recently celebrated her 96th birthday. She was beloved by everyone she met. She was a lifelong member of Blackwater United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women. 
    She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons, Jessy Ray (Phyllis), and Carl Wayne (Amanda); two daughters, Wanda Whittington, and Jan Case (Edward); 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 27 great great-grandchildren. 
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Mannie "Bud" Chemin; son, Rodney Dale Chemin; parents, Glancy and Carrie Carpenter; 3 brothers, Glancy, Tom, and Milton; sister, Arietta Devall; grandson, Kenny Chemin; granddaughter, Paige Chemin; and son-in-law, Al Whittington. 
    Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Visitation was held at Blackwater United Methodist Church, Baker, on Monday, Feb. 1. A special thank you to a host of family members and friends who cared for her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blackwater United Methodist Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
