In Memoriam: Eugene Tunney Sullivan

KM_C224e-20160601132307    Eugene Tunney Sullivan passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 9, 2016.  He was 88 and a resident of Central.  He was a retired Exxon Senior Section Supervisor and consultant.  He worked up through the ranks and was the first non-engineer without a college degree named as Senior Section Supervisor at the Exxon chemical plant.  He loved family gatherings and enjoyed listening to, singing, and playing country and bluegrass music.  He taught himself to play several instruments.  He was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several small businesses over the years while working full time at Exxon.
    Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Wednesday May 11, 2016 until religious services in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Susie Thomas.  Interment followed in Hiram Stafford Cemetery on Lod Stafford Road in Satsuma.
    He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nellie Mae McLin Sullivan; two daughters, Betty Covington and husband Jimmy Gordon of Baton Rouge, and Linda Kifffe of Central; a son, Michael Sullivan and wife Kathy of Baton Rouge; a sister, Nell Passman of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, Jennifer Erwin and husband Trent, Joshua Hooker and wife Renee’, Lindsey Treuil and husband Brian, Brian Sullivan and wife Linnea, Stacy Sullivan, and Jeffrey Covington; eight great-grandchildren, Claire, Kailey, and Corban Hooker, C.J. Treuil, Nic Cook, and Faith, Preston, and Reagan Erwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by parents Eugene Carl and Elizabeth Brown Sullivan, and sister, Ethel Davis.
    Pallbearers are Joshua Hooker, Brian Sullivan, Brian Treuil, Huey McLin, Kenny McLin, and Brad Eldridge.  The family would like to thank the staffs at Our Lady of the Lake Trauma Neuro Critical Care Center, Modern Hospice, and Home Instead for their compassionate care.  Please sign the online guestbook at www.sealefuneral.com.
