CAPA Corner – Luke 12:8

By  |

NIV: "I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.”

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ,
Let me introduce myself.  I am Laurie Raborn, Associate Pastor at Blackwater UMC and I am part of Central Area Pastors Association.  My family moved to the Central area one year ago and except for the one speeding ticket I received, Central is a great community and a great NEW city.  I moved here from the McComb Mississippi area where I lived for 14 years.  This entire area has changed in these past years and I am very pleased to be part of Central City.
The subject of our most recent CAPA meeting had to do with the unrest in the Baton Rouge area and  also the fact that the Central area was directly affected. As we circled around and discussed the issues and the impact it was having on each of our lives the question was brought up: what is going on?  The statement was thrown out – The Passivity of Christians and the people of God. We were taught to be a conservative bunch, turn the other cheek, do on to others as you would have them do on to you, etc.  All this is right and good.  There are issues however in which we have been too quiet and maybe turned the other cheek once too often.  Prayer has been taken out of schools, some teachers in the public school arena are not allowed to profess their faith by wearing the cross, and Christ is being taken out of Christmas in many areas and being replaced by Holiday, just to name a few.
Luke 12:8 reads; “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.”
Psalms 96:3 NKJV “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.”

Grace and Peace,
Rev. Laurie H. Raborn, a proud member of the Central Community
