Friday Night Lights Return

By  |
In preparation for their September 1st opening game, the Central Wildcats host East Ascension in a scrimmage at 6PM this today, followed by a Jamboree at Wildcat Stadium on August 25th against St. Amant.
Across town, Central Private opens the season this Friday, playing host to CHEF, then travels to Cathedral on August 25th. CP is coming off of its strongest year in recent history, finishing with a 6-2 record and was the 11th seed in the AAA MAIS State football playoffs.
The CHS Wildcats came back from a tough 2016 final game loss to Live Oak and defeated that same Eagle team the following week to advance to round two of the playoffs. The Wildcats have made the playoffs nine times in the last 10 years.
Head Coach Sid Edwards commented “The Wildcats are ready to represent the Central community against St. Amant this week. This team has a long history of commitment to excellence.  We are only dressing out 69 players, but they are a committed 69.”
Watch your mailbox on August 31st for the “Football Special Edition” of Central Speaks for schedules  and interviews as well as photos of the teams, band, cheerleaders, and other groups that make ‘Friday Night Lights” one of the Central community’s fall highlights.
