cats nationals cheerBCentral Community Athletics Recreational cheer teams attended Nationals in Orlando, Florida for the first time ever after qualifying two teams at a UCA Regional competition in Hammond, LA.  The program has never had a team attend the National High School Cheerleading Championship until this past year.  The recreational division is geared towards cheer teams who participate in their community and cheer on the youth organization football teams.
CCA rec cheer competed in two divisions at nationals-youth rec and senior rec.  The Youth Rec team, known as Cats, placed third out of eight teams and brought home bronze medals.  The Cats are coached by Amy Stevens, a CHS Cheer alumni and current CHS Varsity cheer coach, and Hannah Wall, a current CHS senior cheerleader.  The Senior Rec team, known as Wildcats, placed tenth out of sixteen teams in a tough division.  The Wildcats are coached by Isabella Payne, Toni Guerin , and Breanna Clark, all former CHS cheerleaders.  Both teams had the experience of a lifetime as they took the national stage for the first time representing the Central Community.
CCA Rec cheer is a community based organization made up of girls ages 4-14 years old.  They have 4 teams this year- Cubs, Kittens, Cats and Wildcats and placement is based on age and ability.  No experience is necessary to join the program.  The CCA teams also cheer at CAYSA football games and perform at Central community events when needed.  Team Placements will be held on April 22, 2018.  The organization is owned by Kristin Perrin and Mindy Callendar, both Central High Cheer Alumni.  For more information on the program visit the website at www.centralcheerathletics.com
